Masak sakan

Dah lama teringin nak makan gulai lemak pucuk paku dengan udang. Ah, dalam freezer nampaknya ada lagi udang geragau..tapi tidak ado cili dan daun kunyit (di dalam pasu pun tinggal,batang je). Gulai pucuk paku lawan cencaru belah belakang. That's the menu for today..Jom.. yours truly ke pasar besar (wet market). First stall..pucuk paku. Ambil 2 ikat..

Me: Berapa seikat dik?
Adik (penjual) : Seikat RM2.00
Me: Eh, dah naik harga?
Adik: Dah lama naik harga.
(Nasib baik tak jawab" Baru balik luar negara ke?" said MsHart when I related the incident to her.)
Me (saw bunga kantan): Ah ni masak dengan pucuk paku pun sedap.
Adik: Ye ke?

BTW, last time my arwah mak cooked gulai picuk paku with udang + bunga kantan + terung pipit ( terung yang macam guli tu).

Then, bought middle sized udang. Ah kalau ada sambal belacan mangga pun best. So bought cili api (aka cabai melaka, don't know why), magga muda (kata mak cik tu 'Ambil yang keras'), saw some kunyit with shoots. Reason...jelas...Other things bought: daun kunyit, cili merah, tempeh (in case) and some limau sambal.

Time : 10.30, ready, get set, go....Aduhai...ambil masa nak buat persiapan. Ada bibik dulu, bibik buat semuanya...all set..kita lebur aje. Yours truly buat satu persatu..first get ready the bahan untuk gulai..like kemas the pucuk paku, clean the prawns...set aside...Then bahan untuk goreng cencaru belah belakang (the cencaru already defrosted), blend the cili with garlic and turmeric, put aside...followed by nahan goreng geragau or jemput-jemput geragau (sliced red cili, daun kunyit, ssmall shallots) siap dengan cicah kicapnya red cili with garlis adn asam limau) sekali...put aside...lastly..preparation for sambal belacan mangga.

Then comes cooking time....




Cooked rice, then,
Goreng cencaru at the same time set to boli the kuah kicap (cicah for cencaru) ,
Cooked the gulai. Roasted the belacan,
Prepared the sambal belacan mangga. I didn't use the batu tumbuk (leceh) but blend, using the mini food processor, habis biji-biji cili hancur!!! and lastly
Fried the jemput-jemput geragau mixture.
What about the tempeh.....next changelah...

Finally, I don't like this job but it's part of cooking...so enjoy..yes...the cleaning up time..all the crockery, the wok (kuali) , the stove, the table, the dustbin...the floor.. and the kitchen back to normal.

Time 2.00pm. Wow. took me 4 hours in all...like going to Kuantan...
Now..makan time....here's the results and they (who else if not the ahli rumah BC ) said "Sedap" (nak suruh masak lagi ke?). Glad the folks enjoyed masakan air tangan yours truly..Amin....

  2. Too late...tapi panaskan gulai paku semalam sampai kering,makan dengan nasi panas dan sambal belacan mangga... ee sedapnya..
